Australia

The opportunity to see the Sydney Opera House was the main reason I came to Australia. It is as beautiful as I imagined. Looking back at downtown Sydney from the Opera House steps. The Sydney Harbour Bridge during a pleasant afternoon.
The Rocks area of Sydney sits in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This area is a collection of shops, bars and clubs. The Chinese Garden next to Darling Harbour is a beautiful spot to mediate and relax. Street performers can be entertaining and at times annoying.
While exploring Olympic Park in western Sydney, I noticed this path of lights leading back to the train station. According to an Aboriginal legend, three sisters, Meehni, Kimlah and Gunnedoo, were turned to stone to keep them safe during a battle between two local tribes. The shaman responsible for transforming them died before he could return them to human form. Now they are destined to remain as rock formations forever. Descending into the Jamison Valley puts you closer to Australian nature

Singapore

Singapore is one of the most interesting places I have ever visited. This island-nation is a large city with an interesting mix of cultures, great food and lots of activity. The MerLion Fountain. Singapore is also known as the Lion City. This Little India building caught my eye as I was leaving my hostel.
Little India is filled with vibrant color, interesting sights and delicious food. It is the center of Singapore's Tamil community At first, I actually thought these were children jumping into the river. Turned out to be a very creative sculpture. Creative works of art like this are abundant in Singapore.

Malta

Valletta has been called an 'open history book'. The city hasn't changed much since the Knights of St. John repelled the Turks in 1565. It's easy to get lost. The similar look of the streets were designed to confuse invaders. The beauty of Sliema captured my eye as I made my way to Valletta. In order to enter Valletta, Malta's capital city, you must pass through a gate. It is the only city in Malta completely surrounded by a wall.
There are saints on many of Valletta's street corners. They've offered protection and blessings to the city since the Middle Ages. As I was leaving Valletta, I walked into a military tattoo.

Vatican City (Holy See)

There are very few places, religious or secular that match the beauty and richness of the Vatican's architechture. There are also few places that match its history and political intrigue. I felt as if St. Peter was beckoning me to step inside of the Basilica.

Amsterdam

My journey started in central Amsterdam. Chinatown was bustling with activity. Further into Chinatown
The entrance to the Red Light District. It is one of the most interesting, busy and risque' places in Amsterdam. Cameras are discouraged. Canals line the alleyways and walkways of Amsterdam.
